After bench play crippled the Washington Wizards throughout the 2016-17 campaign, the franchise made a point to bolster their reserve unit this summer. While they didn’t make any franchise-altering additions this offseason, they added cheap, quality pieces in Mike Scott and Jodie Meeks and swung a draft day trade for backup point guard Tim Frazier.
The Wizards continued to make minor improvements to their depth as they agreed to a one-year deal with free agent guard Donald Sloan earlier today according to Shams Charania of The Vertical:
Free agent Donald Sloan, a 5-year NBA veteran, has agreed on a one-year deal with the Washington Wizards, league sources tell The Vertical.

Donald Sloan will be going into his 6th NBA season and has provided a serviceable threat from the reserve point guard role over his past couple years in the NBA.
This past season, Sloan played his basketball overseas in China and will now get another chance to prove his worth in the NBA. After a successful stint with the Indiana Pacers a few years earlier, Sloan last joined the Brooklyn Nets, playing in 61 games and starting 33 of them in 2015-16.
With the Frazier acquisition earlier this summer and now the addition of Sloan, the Wizards typical shaky backup point guard play should see an improvement this season.
