Disney has announced that Black Widow, Death on the Nile and West Side Story will be released than previously expected.
Marvel’s Black Widow was initially expected to arrive in theaters on November 6, 2020. However, the film has been pushed back to May 7, 2021. Meanwhile, Kenneth Branagh’s Death on the Nile has vacated its October 2020 release in favor of a December 18, 2020 release. Finally, Steven Speilberg’s West Side Story will debut in December 2021 instead of the previously announced December 18, 2020 release date.
The delayed release of Black Widow will have somewhat of a domino effect. Delaying the film’s release will postpone the release of The Eternals. Starring Angelina Jolie, Brian Tyree Henry, Richard Madden, Gemma Chan and Kumail Nanjiani, the film was scheduled to hit theaters in February. Now, the film will be released in November 2021.
“Marvel made the right and responsible decision,” Nanjiani said.
“Nothing is more important than health and lives. I can’t tell pepople to go to a movie theater until I feel safe going to one.”
Despite delaying several releases, Disney has elected to move forward with a November release of Soul. The film will arrive on November 20, 2020.
