On Monday night, Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki surpassed the 50,000 career regular season minutes mark. A milestone not many players have the opportunity to reach. But despite Dirk’s special moment, it was mildly tarnished with an error made by the team.
Dirk’s jersey was misspelled. Now, for the average sports fan, ‘Nowitzki’ might be a little tough to spell, that’s understandable. But for the team that has put his name on the back of jerseys for two decades to do it? That’s very interesting, to say the least.

Dirk, as usual, took the moment in stride and made a little joke about the mishap being the epitome of the Dallas Mavericks season.
The following comes from Earl K. Sneed of DallasMavericks.com.
Dirk Nowitzki says he just noticed his misspelled jersey: “I actually just saw it. I had no idea. I guess it happens. I usually look at my jersey, so I never even saw it myself. It happens. I guess it kind of sums up our season.”

Dallas is currently one of the worst teams in the NBA in the middle of a full rebuild. They currently sit at 17-37 on the season which will all but secure them a top five spot in the 2018 NBA Draft.
