Diane Nelson is probably one of the most important people in Hollywood that the average consumer knows little about. The Hollywood titan is an alum of the powerhouse Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse. Since graduating from Syracuse, Nelson has been nothing short of a superstar. Before the age of thirty, Nelson became the Director of National Promotions for Walter Disney Records. Later on, she moved to Warner Bros. where she became a brand manager of Harry Potter, Executive Vice President of Warner Bros. Global Brand Management and ultimately, Chief Content Officer for Warner Bros. Interactive. At the height of her career, Nelson became President of not only, DC Entertainment, but she also became President of Warner Bros. Consumer Products.
Today, Nelson stepped down from her role as President of DC Entertainment because of family related issues. According to reports from those close to the situation, Nelson stepped back from her role of President back in March and that she was not forced out of her position. In a letter to staff earlier today, Warner Bros. CEO, Kevin Tsujihara, wrote, “Diane has been a friend and colleague as well as a valued member of the Warner Bros. family for more than 20 years. While we’re sad she’ll be leaving us, we completely respect and support her decision.”
No immediate replacement for Nelson has been named. DC Entertainment’s executive team will report to Chief Digital Officer, Thomas Gewecke, until a replacement is found.
