Derrick Rose’s ongoing sexual assault case is the biggest news in the NBA. The recent New York Knicks acquisition has been denying rape allegations for months now. He is set to go on trial next week, with no end in sight as of right now.
Rose has publicly and vehemently denied the allegations made about him. He has blamed the alleged victim to the point where the court has mandated he refrain from doing so. He, and Knicks president Phil Jackson, have proclaimed that the point guard is not worried about the case and that he will be proven innocent.
Well as it turns out, that’s probably not the case.
Following from The Vertical’s Chris Mannix:
For now, the Knicks wait – and hope. Hope that the civil suit is resolved quickly. Hope that Rose – who has been troubled by the uncertainty of his legal entanglements more than he is letting on, sources familiar with Rose told The Vertical – is able to block out the distractions and build on the progress he made last season.
Everything Derrick Rose and his camp have declared up to this point feels like a ploy to get the accuser to reach a settlement. The court has declared that she must reveal her name to go to trial and that does not appear to be stopping her from going through with the case.
This is a very fluid and serious situation. Without the facts present, it is impossible to say whether Rose is guilty or innocent. But this report does not paint a pretty picture for him.
