Chart-topping musician Demi Lovato will make their directorial debut with a new Hulu documentary called Child Star. Alongside co-director Nicola Marsh, Lovato aims to “deconstruct the highs and lows of growing up in the spotlight through the lens of some of the world’s most famous former child stars.”
“Our project sheds light on important messages about growing up in the public eye, learning to protect our boundaries, and becoming active advocates of our own destinies,” Lovato said.
“I’m humbled to be able to learn from the individuals who have lived the unique experience of child stardom and share their stories in our film.”
The two-time Grammy nominee is no stranger to the world of entertainment. Lovato kicked off their acting career at the age of 10 as Angela on Barney & Friends. From there, they would go on to appear in Prison Break and Just Jordan. Before the age of 18, the child actress had accumulated credits in numerous children’s films, including Camp Rock and Princess Protection Program. Not to mention, she released four studio albums before her 21st birthday. Simply put, Lovato has a bit of experience as a child star.
Child Star is set to stream exclusively on Hulu in 2024.
