The Denver Nuggets are signing veteran center DeMarcus Cousins to a contract for the remainder of the season. His ten-day contract with the team had expired, and the Denver Nuggets had seen enough to keep the journeyman center on the roster for the rest of the season. Injuries have seriously derailed the career of the big man, but he still has value on an NBA roster. Serving as the primary backup to reigning MVP Nikola Jokic could help him get another deal next season. The Denver Nuggets would also like to seriously compete for an NBA Championship.
Sources: The Denver Nuggets are planning to sign center DeMarcus Cousins to a rest-of-season contract in the coming days. Cousins’ final 10-day expired over the weekend. He’s averaged 6.1 points and 6.3 rebounds with Denver, where he’s reunited with Michael Malone.

In eight games with the Denver Nuggets, DeMarcus Cousins is averaging 6.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. The veteran center has been a helpful and experienced reserve coming off the bench. Denver has had several injury problems this year and Cousins can help with that to close the season. Playoff experience coming off the bench is also never a bad thing come time for the postseason.
DeMarcus Cousins coming off his couch to reunite with Michael Malone and solidify Denver’s bench has been an awesome story. This team will need his toughness/physicality in the playoffs. Nuggets are 8-0 with Cousins in the lineup — easy call to sign him for the rest of the year.

The Denver Nuggets are currently 33-25 which is good enough to be the sixth seed in the Western Conference. They are close to both the fifth and seventh seeds so the race to the finish will be tight.
