One of Netflix’s best shows is making its return soon. The streaming giant dropped a surprise trailer on Friday for their critically acclaimed show, Dear White People. Not only did we get a look at the upcoming third season, but we also got confirmation that it’ll be dropping on August 2nd. That was reported about a month ago but, without a trailer, it seemed like it could be flexible. Either way, the show is looking to shake things up a bit when it comes back.
Throughout the first two seasons, the series’ de facto main character Sam (Logan Browning) has hosted the titular radio show, Dear White People. But, as the trailer starts, Sam reveals she’s “done with Dear White People.” Ashley Blaine Featherson’s Joelle Brooks is now in charge of the radio show as the actual show is seemingly set to take a turn towards the meta. The Order of X discovered at the end of season 2 is back in a big way, with Giancarlo Esposito’s narrator appearing in the flesh as the head of the secret society. (Probably?)
Regardless, it seems like season 3 is going to be another weird, dramatic ride and I can’t wait to see where it takes us. Check out the trailer for yourself:
Dear White People season 3 hits Netflix on August 2nd.
