The San Antonio Spurs are re-signing Latvian power forward Davis Bertans on a two-year deal worth $14.5 million, according to Yahoo’s Shams Charania:

Bertans, 25, averaged 5.9 points and two rebounds per game while shooting 44 percent from the field and 37.3 percent from 3-point range.
At 6 feet, 10 inches and with a career 3-point-shooting average of 38.4 percent, Bertans is a prototypical stretch-four.
Though Bertans has only played in the NBA for two seasons, he is a seasoned veteran when it comes to basketball. He played professional ball overseas beginning in 2007 – when he was just 15 years old. From 2012 to 2014, Bertans won three consecutive Serbian League championships with Union Olimpija. In 2012, the team also won the Serbian Cup. In 2013, it won the Adriatic League.
The Spurs’ future is slightly murky at the moment, as the future of disgruntled superstar Kawhi Leonard remains a mystery. The team was solid in 2017-18, managing 47 wins despite lacking Leonard for a vast majority of the season.
The Spurs still have good talent heading into next season: LaMarcus Aldridge is an All-Star, Dejounte Murray, Lonnie Walker IV and Derrick White are exciting young players. Manu Ginobili, Pau Gasol, Rudy Gay and Marco Belinelli are wily vets. The Spurs will be, however, extremely weak on the wing should they opt to trade Leonard. If they do trade him, they should target a small forward as part of the package they receive in return for him.
