This offseason has been quite the success for John Calipari. He has landed transfer after transfer, is bringing in another top-10 recruiting class, and Davion Mintz is returning for another season. Mintz transferred to Kentucky from Creighton as a graduate transfer for the 2020 season. Due to the COVID pandemic players were granted another season of eligibility and Davion will now play one more season of NCAA basketball.
The Kentucky Wildcats basketball Twitter let the world know they would get their veteran guard back for another year.
#BBN, @deemintz1 really appreciated the birthday love yesterday.
He wants to return the favor … ?

Mintz averaged 11.5 points and just over 3 rebounds and assists per game last season. He was a calm and steady force on a Wildcats team that needed just that. Even though it was perhaps the worst season in modern UK history, this season appears to be different. This will be the most experienced team that John Calipari has had in Lexington. Ever. With all the transfers and the return of Orlando Antigua, there is a buzz around Lexington that hasn’t been there in quite a while.
Having Mintz on the roster doesn’t just give you another veteran, but it gives you an anchor you can give the ball to when things get a little too heated. A calm and collected player, Mintz along with transfers Kellan Grady and CJ Fredrick, will give the Cats much-needed shooting ability on the outside. Coach Cal is finally modernizing his roster.
With NIL rights being granted today, there has to be suspicion that played a role in Mintz’s decision. Regardless, he will be back in Lexington for another year. Oh, and if you are excited about that news, you can also get a personalized message from Davion Mintz via Cameo.
