David Griffin was ousted as the general manager of the Cleveland Cavaliers just a couple of days before the 2017 NBA Draft and under two weeks before NBA free agency began. While the Cavs still are without a general manager just two days before free agency and they’re not the only team in the same situation. The New York Knicks also removed a prominent part of their front office in team president Phil Jackson.
The Knicks are moving forward into free agency with general manager Steve Mills and former Raptors executive Tim Leiweke joining the team as an advisor helping make roster decisions and also assisting in the search for the next team president. With Phil Jackson gone, the Knicks are going to attempt to bring in a strong name to lead the franchise back to some semblance of success. One man the organization is looking to talk with is former Cavs general manager, David Griffin.
