James Gunn and DC Studios have found the next actor to carry on the legacy of Clark Kent. David Corenswet is reportedly set to take on the lead role in the upcoming film, Superman: Legacy. Directed by James Gunn and produced by Peter Safran, the film is scheduled to fly into theaters on July 11, 2025.
“It focuses on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing,” Gunn said about the Corenswet-led picture.
“He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way. He is [kind] in a world that thinks of kindness as old-fashioned.”
David Corenswet is a 29-year-old actor from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Upon his graduation from the Juilliard School in 2016, he began to appear in prominent films and series like House of Cards, The Politician, Instinct and Hollywood. Most recently, he landed a role in Apple TV+’s Lady in the Lake.
The newly-caped Superman has also found his Lois Lane. Rachel Brosnahan will reportedly star as Kent’s love interest in the upcoming film from James Gunn. The Highland Park native is an Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award-winning actress with previous appearances in House of Cards and The Marvelous Ms. Maisel.
