Ding, ding! It’s time for the first look at the highly-anticipated film, Creed III. After weeks of questions and rumors, fans finally get a look at Michael B. Jordan’s directorial debut. In under three minutes, Jordan lays out the world in which Adonis Creed now lives. Without directly mentioning it, it appears that Jordan’s mother, played by Phylicia Rashad, and Rocky, played by Sylvester Stallone are in the picture. However, it does appear that a few old faces have returned. On the peripheral, Tony Bellew has made his return as “Pretty” Ricky Conlan, but Anderson Dame, played by Jonathan Majors, takes center stage.
Digging deeper into the trailer, it appears that Creed III will center around Adonis Creed’s past. In the first film, Ryan Coogler shows a young Adonis Creed leaving the juvenile detention system and finding his way home to the Creed estate. However, the film doesn’t dig deep into his time in the foster care system. Creed III does just that. Countless flashbacks indicate that Anderson Dame and Adonis Creed were close friends at one point, but things turned sour one night when the police were called on them. Dame ended up sending nearly 20 years in prison while Creed went on with his life.
In Creed III, Dame returns to Creed’s life and it appears that things go smoothly at first, but it ultimately becomes clear that Anderson wants what Adonis has. Will he take it from him or will Adonis Creed come out on top once again? The world will find out in March 2023, but the trailer will hold everybody over until then.
