Coldplay is currently riding the waves of success as they continue to release new music and bodies of work for their massive fan-base. Just this past December, the band went on to put out their seventh studio album, A Head Full of Dreams. Home to some of their most experimental work to date, in terms of content & sound, as previously announced, the band made for the perfect selection to play for millions across the world for this February’s Super Bowl 50 halftime show. Over the years, the band has effectively built an impressive resume and roster of collaborations that have seen the best of several worlds collide on their records. Most recently, Beyonce lent her vocals to the infectious ‘Hymn For The Weeknd’ and ‘Up&Up.’ Previously, Rihanna showed her talent on the Mylo Xyloto cut, ‘Princess Of China.’ In what could be to the excitement of many, these records could possibly be brought to life on the Super Bowl stage as both women are reportedly in talks to join Coldplay during the NFL’s most anticipated music-related event.
“Beyonce and Rihanna are both keen to join in the high-profile ceremony and will add just the spark needed to make it an amazing and unforgettable show.”
RiRi is set to duet with Chris on Princess of China, a UK top five hit for the band and a Top 20 hit in the US, while Beyonce has laid down vocals on two tracks – Hymn for the Weekend and Up & Up – from Coldplay’s latest album, A Head Full Of Dreams.
With Beyonce already having a Super Bowl headlining performance under her belt, and what could serve as Rihanna’s first appearance, the two superstars would easily be the major shock factor that most Super Bowl performance showings bring forth. Looking forward, as Rihanna gears up for the release of her 8th studio album, ANTi, and Beyonce effectively making secret moves into what could be the start of her 6th musical era, Super Bowl appearances for the hit-makers would serve as great launching platforms for what they have up next. Being just over a month until Coldplay rocks the stage with their hits, time will only tell if these plans come to fruition.
