Academy Award nominee Cord Jefferson may have just released his first major feature film, but he’s already thinking about his next two projects. While walking the red carpet at the 2024 DGA Awards, Jefferson shared some details regarding what viewers could expect next.
“I want to do an erotic thriller and I’m also working on a neo-western that is also is like a noir,” he told Deadline.
“Both of them have similar themes to what’s in American Fiction through a much, much different lens.”
He hasn’t picked out a title or shared how far along he may be in putting together a script, but he’s already got a few names in mind for the cast.
“I know he’s retired right now, but I love Gene Hackman, and I really love Corey Hawkins, Bryan Tyree Henry, Cynthia Erivo; the list goes on and on. Hopefully, they want to work with me,” he continued.
Jefferson may have his sights set on his next film, but he hasn’t finished his current run with his first film, American Fiction. The Jeffrey Wright-led movie is nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards in March. Two of the film’s stars, Jeffrey Wright and Sterling K. Brown, are also nominated for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor.
