It has been reported that STX Films has acquired distribution rights in North America to “The Secret Garden,” a movie adaptation of the beloved children’s novel of the same name that has been in development over the past year.
The film stars Oscar winner and ‘Kingsman’ Actor Colin Firth and Julie Walters. Marc Munden is set to direct the picture with a script penned by Jack Thorne, who is best known for writing on Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. (“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”).
“The Secret Garden” has one of the most powerful producers backing the film, David Heyman, who has played a large part in the Harry Potter and Paddington franchise.
“The Secret Garden” follows a 10-year-old orphan Mary Lennox, who is sent from India to live with her reclusive uncle Archibald (seemingly to be played by Firth) and his strict housekeeper Mrs. Medlock (Walters) in an eerie mansion.
