Serviceable big men in the NBA are hard to find. To be able to get a reliable big body to throw out there whenever you need him to just do what big men do best is a hard player to find in the NBA.
The Los Angeles Clippers now have two of those guys, one more talented than the other but two of a good thing is never bad. While they were able to get DeAndre Jordan signed to a new deal, they also managed to sign his backup in the same week.
Former New York Knicks big man Cole Aldrich will be joining the Clippers.

Heard from a source close to Cole Aldrich that the center is signing a two-year deal with the Clippers. Includes player option, source said.

Aldrich going to Los Angeles means he won’t be their starting center, instead he’ll be coming off the bench in relief of DeAndre Jordan. There was a growing concern among many national writers that Aldrich would be brought in as the Clippers starting center if they weren’t able to keep DeAndre Jordan.
Now that Jordan is locked up, having Aldrich in the fold is a bonus. Aldrich is going into his sixth season in the NBA and has mostly come off the bench for a majority of his career. Last season for the Knicks he averaged career-highs in point at 5.5 and rebounds at 5.5 while playing 16 minutes per game.
