Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck could finally be on the verge of participating in team practices. If this is true, it could be a big step in salvaging the season. The Colts currently have a 1-2 record and sit in third in the AFC South.
The season started out rough for the Colts. The Los Angeles Rams blew them out 49-6, then lost a heartbreaker in overtime 19-16 to the Arizona Cardinals. Jacoby Brissett was able to step up and get the win against the Cleveland Browns. The Browns are by far not a great team, but a win is a win.
Colts head coach Chuck Pagano gave an update today on the status on their star quarterback.
“He will not practice this week. He’s still a week away as far as his throwing progression and things like that. So we’ll keep him out of practice this week and hopefully integrate him back in next week.”
Luck has been nursing a shoulder injury he suffered last season. He is yet to set foot on the practice field with the team. It is possible Luck could return sometime around week six at the earliest.
Nothing that’s happened with #Colts QB Andrew Luck has given anyone doubt that he plays this year. … And keep an eye on Week 6 vs. #Titans pic.twitter.com/Zh1SzlJ2WF

Though he has been ruled out for this week, the fact that he is getting closer is a good sign for Colts fans. It is possible that it is too late for the Colts to make it to the playoffs. They are not out of the race yet but will need to pick it up if they wish to be in a good position when Luck returns.
For now, Pagano and the Colts will continue to be patient with Luck’s injury. Luck is tough and has an incredibly competitive spirit. When he feels he is ready to play, he will get to play.
