As quiet as it is kept, Chika has had one of the best runs of any new artist this year. Just before the world shut down, the Alabama native delivered a seven-track project called Industry Games. Not long after dropping the project, she traveled out to Washington, D.C. to perform for NPR’s Tiny Desk series. Since then, she’s steadily remained in the public eye through her 2020 XXL Freshman shoot and the Netflix film, Project Power.
Keeping things going, she decided to drop new music to close out the summer. In August, she followed up Industry Games with the more subtle single, “U Should.” The guitar heavy record tells the story of the Warner Records artist struggling to ask the girl of her eye for a dance.
“I’ve been watching you, across the room/I wanna dance,?a?dance/It’s?a tug of war for your?time
Baby, you’re so damn fine/Look so good/So good/You don’t see it all as a sign/Pour some more of your wine/Yeah, you should,” she sings.
Two months after releasing the love record, she performed the song alongside a live band on Showtime’s Desus & Mero. Check out the performance below.
