Canelo Álvarez may be taking some time away to enjoy the fruits of his labor, but he is still working hard to build his legacy in the world of boxing and beyond. The undisputed super middleweight champion has announced that he has partnered with Campanario Entertainment and Cartuna to develop an adult animated series. Written by Telly Award-winning scribe Erick Galindo, the series will chronicle his development under trainer Eddie Reynoso, rise to boxing glory, raising a family and much more.
“I’m excited to see my story and my career brought to TV through this incredible medium. It will give my loyal fans a new way to follow my journey to the top of boxing, and can also bring new followers to this beautiful sport,” Canelo Álvarez said about the developing project.
“Telling Latino stories that resonate with global audiences has always been at the center of Campanario’s goals. To have the opportunity to tell Canelo Álvarez’s story with the help of Erick Galindo, another one-of-a-kind Mexican and esteemed writer, is an incredible honor for us,” Campanario Entertainment President Jaime Dávila added.
Canelo Álvarez is not only working on an adult animated series, but he is also set to appear in Creed III. Prior to his most recent showdown with Gennadiy Golovkin, Álvarez was spotted reviewing film alongside the film’s director, Michael B. Jordan. Fellow boxers like Tony Bellew and Teofimo Lopez are also rumored to be involved in the project. Not to mention, Gabriel Rosado and Andre Ward appeared in the previous two films. The saga’s third chapter is expected to hit theaters in the first quarter of 2023.
