If the name — DJ Camper or Camper — doesn’t sound familiar, his music probably will. Over the last decade, he’s contributed to several notable tracks from legendary artists, including “Somewhere In America” by Jay-Z, “Favorite” by Nicki Minaj, “Jump Out The Window” by Big Sean and “ICU” by Coco Jones. Above all else, he teamed up with H.E.R. to deliver not one, but two first-class projects — H.E.R Volume I and H.E.R Volume II. After spending years behind the scenes with A-list talent, he’s stepping out to deliver his own music.
On Friday, July 12, Camper debuted his summer single, “War” featuring Jeremih and Ari Lennox, along with an official music video. The smooth and rhythmic production from the New Jersey native oozes with passion as Jeremih and Ari Lennox sing about going to “War” for the love of their significant other. The addictive sounds of the R&B bop are elevated by the official video, which finds Camper bringing flowers, chocolate and much more to win over his significant other after an apparent argument. Ultimately, his love interest, played by Chelsie Denise, gives in despite the disapproval of her friends.
Following “I Need It” with Tank and Syd, “War” is the second single from Camper’s forthcoming album, Campilation. Check out the latest single below before the full project arrives.
