The Philadelphia 76ers are ending their streak of tanking for a good draft pick, says President Bryan Colangelo. From Tom Moore of Bucks County Courier Times:
Given all of those factors, plus Joel Embiid and Jahlil Okafor being on minute restrictions, on a team that is the league’s youngest, would president of basketball operations Bryan Colangelo now consider tanking this season in an effort to potentially make things better in future years?
“Not a chance,” Colangelo replied Monday via text message.
I don’t mean this to be offensive, but are the Sixers really good enough not to tank, even if they don’t want to? I mean… Embiid’s awesome and all, but this team, especially with Ben Simmons missing so much time, is likely not good enough to win more than… 25 games? And 25 feels very generous.
In other 76ers news, the team traded Jerami Grant to the Oklahoma City Thunder today in exchange for stretch-four and a top-20 protected first-round draft pick.
