San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has had his UCL surgery delayed because of swelling in his elbow. The surgery was supposed to happen this week, but after a conversation with his doctor the plan for Purdy is to get the surgery sometime in March when the swelling goes down. This surgery has an expected recovery time of about six months, but will allow him to begin throwing again in about three months. This would keep Purdy on track to play football again in 2023 if all goes well, which was a concern when the injury was first diagnosed.
#49ers QB Brock Purdy today visited Dr. Keith Meister, who recommended postponing surgery because of ongoing inflammation in Purdy’s elbow, per sources.
They’ll reconvene in early March. All signs continue to point a UCL repair that would have Purdy ready for the 2023 season.

Brock Purdy said the following about his upcoming UCL surgery: “We’re going into it thinking the repair with the InternalBrace, for sure. All the surgeons have said that and that’s what we’re hoping for and get a six-month recovery in and be ready for camp.” According to his doctor this is the best path for him to be recovered and ready for football in the Fall.
This season after taking over as the starter for the San Francisco 49ers, Brock Purdy completed 114 passes for 1,374 yards, 13 touchdowns, and four interactions on 170 attempts. He also rushed the ball 22 times for 13 yards and one rushing touchdown. We here at Def Pen Sports wish Purdy the best in his recovery and eventual return to the football field.
