Jennifer Love Hewitt will appear in the next installment of the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise. Freddie Prinze Jr. will, too. But will Brandy Norwood return for the revival? After a recent interview with director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, fans believe the door is still open for the GRAMMY Award winner to grace the big screen yet again.
“Will Brandy return in the upcoming installment?” PEOPLE asked.
“You’ll have to go see the movie,” Robinson answered.
Robinson’s vague comments add to speculation that Norwood will return for the sequel set to hit theaters in July. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight last summer, Norwood said she hopes to return for the sequel.
“I don’t know how [Karla] would come back,” Norwood said. “I haven’t thought about that yet, but I know that she should come back. She should definitely come back.”
While fans are excited to see which characters will return from the original, Robinson and company will also bring new actors into the world of I Know What You Did Last Summer. Thus far, Madelyn Cline (Outer Banks), Lala Tung (The Summer I Turned Pretty), Nicholas Alexander Chavez (General Hospital), and Austin Nichols (One Tree Hill) have joined the cast. On Tuesday, the first photos from the film surfaced as the movie inches toward a July 2025 release.
