
‘IT’ continued to steamroll the competition at the box office by bringing in an additional $60 million over the weekend. The second-weekend haul for ‘IT’ was more than the film was estimated to make in its opening weekend by most box-office forecasters. The film has managed to bring in over $218 million domestically, putting ‘IT’ well on its way to becoming the highest domestic grossing horror film of all time. ‘American Assassin’ delivered a modest $14.8 million debut in its opening frame. The Michael Keaton and Dylan O’Brien film cost an estimated $33 million to produce and has already made over $21 million worldwide. Darren Aronofsky’s controversial film ‘mother!’debuted with an estimated $7.5 million over the weekend. The divisive film has managed to achieve what only several other films in history have done, which is maintain a fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes while at the same time boasting an F cinema score from moviegoers. With that stark a contrast, it’s safe to say people will be talking about ‘mother!’ for quite some time.
