Texas Gubernatorial Candidate Beto O’Rourke has reportedly cleared his upcoming campaign schedule after receiving treatment for an unspecified bacterial infection this week. O’Rourke received “intravenous antibiotic infusions” at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas this past weekend and is feeling “improved.”
“While my symptoms have improved, I will be resting at home in El Paso in accordance with the doctors’ recommendations,” O’Rourke told the Associated Press.
“I am sorry to have had to postpone events because of this, but promise to be back on the road as soon as I am able.”
Polling from Dallas Morning News and UT Tyler currently sits O’Rourke seven points behind the incumbent, Greg Abbott. With approximately eight weeks left until Election Day, the former presidential candidate has a bit of ground to make up if he intends to capture the gubernatorial seat in the Lone Star State.
