Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War is dominating the global box office. After Tuesday it has crossed the $800 million mark and is on pace to become the fastest film to break $1 billion.
The films earned $23.4 million Tuesday domestically to push it’s North American total to $305.9 million. This ties it with Star Wars: The Force Awakens as the quickest films to cross the $300 million mark domestically. Both films accomplished this in only five days.
Outside of North America, the film also broke $500 million, for a total global haul of over $800 million. The film has yet to open in China, a major international market and is set to release there on May 11th.
Experts say Avengers: Infinity War is on track to break $1 billion by Friday or Saturday, it’s 10th or 11th day in theaters. This would break the record previously set by The Force Awakens of 12 days.
Deadpool, Guardians of the Galaxy, and X-Men: Days of Future Past all had impressive runs but were eclipsed by Infinity War on Tuesday, to put things in perspective.
