The year 2020 continues to be unpredictable. Swizz Beatz has announced that tonight’s Verzuz battle between Ashanti and Keyshia Cole has been postponed.
Just hours before showtime, news broke that Ashanti had tested positive for COVID-19. While the team putting together tonight’s event attempted to put together a virtual event, their efforts were too little too late.
Fortunately, Ashanti will have time to recover and prepare for the event. Instead, the two singers, Apple Music, Swizz Beatz and Timbaland have agreed to reschedule the Verzuz battle for January 9, 2021.
“Unfortunately, we have to postpone tonight’s Ashanti vs. Keyshia Cole Verzuz [battle]. Ashanti tested positive for COVID-19 beforehand and we cannot put anyone at risk in the process,” Timbaland and Swizz Beatz wrote.
“Wear a mask, stay inside and take COVID-19 seriously. It’s truly affecting our community. [The] new date [is] January 9th.”
At this time, it is unclear if there will be another battle later this month between Foxy Brown and Lil’ Kim.
