Ariana DeBose will reportedly host the 76th Annual Tony Awards. The annual awards ceremony is set to take place on June 11, 2023 at the United Palace in New York, New York on CBS.
DeBose will enter her second year as the ceremony’s host. Within the last only 50 years, only four other people have hosted the Tony Awards more than once. Neil Patrick Harris hosted the ceremony 2011 through 2013, Angela Lansbury led the show from 1987 through 1989, Rosie O’Donnell spearheaded the ceremony from 1997 through 1998 and Hugh Jackman fronted the show from 2003 through 2005.
“Ariana will host and dance and sing, we’re so thrilled she’s back to do the thing,” White Cherry Entertainment Executive Producers Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner said.
DeBose received her first and only Tony Awards nomination in 2018 for her performance in Summer: The Donna Summer Musical. Since then, she has won an Academy Award, Screen Actors Guild Award and Golden Globe Award.
“I was honored to serve as host last year and even more so to be asked back,” DeBose said, per Billboard.
“So looking forward to celebrating this incredible season and the people who make the work happen. Here’s to adding some uptown flavor to the magic of the Tony Awards!”
