The release of the Aretha Franklin inspired featured film, Respect, has been pushed back from October 9, 2020 to December 25, 2020. First, it will hit select markets in December. Then, Respect will hit other markets on January 8, 2020 and January 15, 2020. Luckily, the film’s delay will not push it out of award contention.
Handpicked by Franklin, Jennifer Hudson take on the film’s leading role. Joining her, Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, Audra McDonald and Mary J. Blige will star in the film. In addition, Marc Maron, Tituss Burgess, Saycon Sengbloh, Hailey Kilgore, Heather Headley, Tate Donovan and Skye Dakota Turner will also appear in the film.
Musically, the film will feature some of the singer’s biggest hits. “Respect,” “Natural Woman” and “Young, Gifted and Black” will all be featured in the film.
Franklin played a role in the early stages of the film before passing away in 2018. She was 76 years young at the time of her death.
