ESPN has tapped actor and producer Anthony Mackie to host the 2021 ESPYS in New York, New York next month. Mackie will lead the world’s largest sports broadcast network as they celebrate the best athletes and sports moments of the last year.
“I’m excited to be hosting this year’s ESPYS and to celebrate the gift that sports have been this past year,” Mackie said.
“They have allowed us to cheer on our favorite teams and athletes together at a time when many felt so alone. As an avid sports fan myself, I can’t wait to meet some of my favorite athletes and celebrate their accomplishments!”
Mackie appeared to be a no-brainer for the 2021 ESPYS. With his ties to Marvel and Disney, it comes as no surprise that he would lead this year’s award show.
The 2021 ESPYS are set to take place at the South Street Seaport in New York, New York on July 10. In the meantime, sports enthusiasts can vote for their favorite athletes, teams and moments through ESPN.
