Former number one overall pick Andrea Bargnani is close to signing a deal with the Sacramento Kings, Marc Stein of ESPN is reporting.
From Stein:
“Sources said the Kings and Bargnani are in advanced discussions on a deal that would send the free-agent forward to the Western Conference for the first time in his career after stints with the Toronto Raptors and New York Knicks.”
The Kings have been active in free agency so far, signing sharp shooter Marco Bellinelli, Caron Butler, Kosta Koufos, and Rajon Rondo.
Bargnani hasn’t lived up to the hype since Toronto drafted first overall back in 2006, but has been a serviceable player during his nine seasons in the league.
Last season with New York he averaged 14.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, just under one block, and shot 45% from the field.
Sacramento recently traded both Carl Landry and Jason Thompson to Philadelphia and looking to add some big men to go along with DeMarcus Cousins and recently drafted Willie Cauley-Stein.
