Oklahoma City Thunder wing Andre Roberson, who suffered a ruptured patellar tendon in January, is hoping to be back to his normal self by December, he tells KABB Fox-29 (via the Oklahoman):
Andre Roberson says he’s a “couple months away” from a return after injury. But he knows it’ll take some time to feel like himself.
Speaking to KABB Fox-29 at his camp last weekend in his native San Antonio, Roberson said he’ll return “when I feel ready” after rupturing his left patellar tendon in January. But he’s targeting the end of the 2018 for a return to normalcy.
“I’m not really putting a particular timeline on it, but I want to come back to myself somewhere in, like, December,” Roberson told the station. “It would be great if it happened before Christmas. That’d be great, but like I said, not putting a timeline on it, just taking it a day at a time.”
Roberson, 26, is known for his defensive prowess and was named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team in 2017. In 39 appearances (all starts) for the Thunder last season, he averaged five points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 0.9 blocks in 26.6 minutes per game, while shooting a career-high 53.7 percent from the field. A poor 3-point shooter, Roberson shot 22.2 percent from deep – a bit below his career average of 25.7 percent. He also shot a putrid 31.6 percent from the free-throw line, the worst mark of his career.
