There are many ways to start a movie trailer, but David O. Russell may have found the most unique method of them all.
“You have a dead white man in a box,” Chris Rock runs into the room and shouts.
“Not even a casket. It doesn’t even have a top on it. Who do you think is going to get in trouble here?”
Rock’s opening monologue is just a taste of the bizarre twists and turns that Russell has packed into the 158-second trailer for his latest film, Amsterdam. The film follows the story of three friends in Amsterdam as they find their way out of one of the most secret plots in history.
The film features an all-star cast that includes Rock, John David Washington, Margot Robbie, Christian Bale, Robert De Niro, Rami Malek and others. Not to mention, chart-topping recording artist Drake is a producer of the film. It’s a lot to take in, so it’s probably best that you just watch the trailer for yourself and stop reading my writing, Russell’s Amsterdam will debut in theaters this November.
