American Horror Story has always been known for being topical and controversial since its debut back in 2011. This season seems to be ratcheting that up to the max with a storyline that not only centers around a gang of killer clowns but the 2016 presidential election. The series regulars seem to be back for the most part. With Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Emma Roberts all confirmed to return. The shows anthological nature allows it to go in crazy directions season after season with no consequences and sometimes these risks pay off like with the much lauded ‘Asylum’ season. Or on the contrary, the overwhelmingly loathed ‘Freakshow’ season. The early reviews for ‘Cult’ seem to put this years season among the greats in the show’s history. With The Wrap even stating that it’s the best entry since ‘Murder House’ which is often considered the best season by the AHS faithful. We’ll have to wait and see how the public reacts when ‘American Horror Story: Cult’ debuts on FX next week.
We’ve attached the new trailer and synopsis below.
“American Horror Story is an American anthology horror series created and produced by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. Described as an anthology series, each season is conceived as a self-contained miniseries, following a different set of characters and settings, and a storyline with its own “beginning, middle, and end.” Some plot elements of each season are loosely inspired by true events.” Via Wikipedia
