New Orleans Pelicans big man Anthony Davis requested a trade. Nevertheless, Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry says Davis intends to continue playing for the team while the organization works out a deal.
From Andrew Lopez of the Times-Picayune:
Gentry says AD came in this morning and got treatment and a workout in.
“He’s under contract. He’s a professional. … he’s made it clear he wants to play.”

Davis is currently injured, so his desire to play will only manifest in reality when he is able to do so. Davis’ finger injury is fairly minor, so he should not be held out for too much longer.
When Davis has been on the court this season, he has been fantastic. He has appeared in 41 of the Pelicans’ 51 games, averaging career-high per-game marks in points (29.3), rebounds (13.3), assists (4.,4) and steals (1.7).
Despite Davis’ brilliance and a supporting cast that is quite solid (on paper, anyway) – albeit a bit thin – the Pelicans have a paltry record of 23-28, which has them at 12th in a loaded Western Conference.
