If you’ve been following Def Pen, you know that we’ve been rocking with Foggieraw since he dropped “The Nerve” with Dave James back in January 2020. Since then, it’s safe to say that he and Foggieraw have found a bit of success in this music thing. With unshakeable confidence, smooth style and one-of-a-kind delivery, the PG County native has found success on Twitter in recent months. Dropping freestyles and open-verse poems over classic tracks and putting together visuals that pack a punch in a short period of time, he has built up a fan base of nearly 50,000 followers on Twitter, 270,000 listeners on Instagram and 493,000 supporters on TikTok. No matter how many supporters he gets, he’s always been looking for one name, in particular, to pop up on his timeline.
A while back, Foggieraw hopped on social media with one of his signature poems put to music. In this particular lyrical exercise, he spit a few bars over the instrumental to “You Don’t Know My Name” by Alicia Keys. To add to this release, the Maryland native crafted a visual that put him in the position of a waiter at a diner much like Alicia Keys did with Yasiin Bey all those years ago. The track, titled “Psalm 62,” has garnered more than 100,000 views on YouTube. Since it dropped, he’s tried to reach out to the great Alicia Keys to offer her thoughts. It didn’t happen on the first or second try, but eventually, the R&B songstress gave it a big thumbs up and asked her friends what they thought as well.
“Hmmmmmmmm, I do like this vibe,” she tweeted.
“What do y’all think?” she asked her fans.
At first glance, it appears that her fans are rocking with it as well.
“Yes, please,” VIBE Magazine staff writer DeMicia Inman replied.
“Let that man Foggie cook,” Malcolm Mays added.
It’s unclear what will happen from here, but it appears that something could be in the works. Until then, check out the track and visual below.
