It looks like the people over at Lifetime dusted themselves off and tried again as they found a new star for their upcoming biopic about the late R&B singer Aaliyah.
Alexanddra Shipp has signed on to star in the film with executive producer Wendy Williams confirming the news via Twitter.

Shipp’s casting comes a month after Zendaya’s exited the project which put it on hold.
Shipp has previously been seen on the Nickelodeon series ‘House of Anubis’ and ‘Victorious’, and appeared in ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel’.
Lifetime’s biopic ‘Aaliyah: Princess of R&B‘ does not have an air date yet.
