It’s been a interesting journey for Gaithersburgh, MD native Sir Robert Bryson Hall III, also known as Logic. Hitting the scene with Young Sinatra: Welcome To Forever in 2013, Logic set the bar extremely high for himself. The mixtape went on to be well-received by all the major publications and blogs. To this day “The High Life” is played heavily on my iTunes. Along with a plethora of razor sharp lyrics matched with supreme production, the future was looking bright.
Conversely, his debut album Under Pressure fell short to my expectations, and his. Although it debuted fourth on Billboard 200, the first week sales were a bit meek. That said, it was still a solid album, but very forgettable. As a fan, writing this sucks in every form imaginable. It seems like too many hands were on that album and what we got was the downplayed version of an artist wanting to share his incredible true story, but was left muzzled and at the mercy of his label.
However, today has come and it’s a day of rejoicing and falling back in love with the Logic that first burst on the scene; now that he is stripped of the shackles of creative imprisonment. With songs like: “Young Jesus,” “Like Whoa,” and “Fade Away,” the picture is abundantly clear that this Def Jam wordsmith is taking it back to his roots and following his recipe towards greatness, which got him here in the first place.
Enough of my rambling, stream The Incredible True Story below.
