Multiple outlets have reported that Alberto “Alpo” Martinez was shot and killed in Harlem early Sunday morning. Few details regarding the shooter are known, but the New York Post has reported that a ” 55-year-old man was in a 2017 Dodge Ram when he was shot five times at 147th Street and Frederick Douglass Boulevard around 3:30 a.m.”
“It seems pretty intentional when you shoot somebody five times,” a source told the media outlet.
Immediately after the shooting, the man was rushed to the hospital, but he could not be saved. Thus far, police have not shared the victim’s identity, but several outlets suspect that the man who was killed is Martinez.
Martinez is known to many in and out of the city of New York as the inspiration behind Cam’ron’s character, Rico, in the popular film, Paid In Full. Produced by Jay-Z, Damon Dash, Steve Rifkind, AZ and Brett Ratner, the film has built a large following over the years and recently celebrated its 19th anniversary.
More details regarding the shooting will be added to this report as the story unfolds.
