The Atlanta Hawks are truly a broken record at this point. When you watch them you can’t help but think “They won’t sniff a title.” They’re just one of those teams that are destined to not win a championship.
Even last year when they had the greatest season in franchise history, people weren’t convinced, and just like this year, they got swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Al Horford is their longest tenured player, he’s been there since 2007 and in those years he has seemed very comfortable in ATL. This season has given Hawks fans pause because they feel that Al Horford will leave, some feel that he’s checked out. Don’t be so pessimistic ATL faithful, even though he’s suffered another sweep, he still loves the city.
“I’m not thinking about that,” Horford said. “We just had a tough loss. My main priority tomorrow is to meet with the team and the coaches one last time (for the season) and go from there and figure out how we can be a better group.”
“It means a lot,” Horford said of Atlanta. “I’ve set up here with my family. We all live here. We live here in the summer. We live here year-round. I’m very grateful for all the people here. They have taken me in from the very first day, even though I was a Gator. They loved me. I really love the city.”
Now on the other side, this may be a small leaving letter. But I honestly think he hasn’t thought about free agency until now.
I think he will stay, the Hawks have the money to give him the max and I think he cherishes the fact that he’s found a home from day 1. Some players never find that place that make them comfortable.
