According to the Tracking Board, Paramount is moving full steam ahead on an ‘Are You Afraid Of The Dark’ reboot. This doesn’t come as much of a surprise as it combines the two of the hottest trends in Hollywood right now, Horror and Nostalgia. The Nickelodeon program was obviously geared toward a younger audience, but there is no word yet on if this will be a Goosebumps style reboot or something with a little harder edge. Gary Dauberman has been set to pen the script. Dauberman has recently worked on the scripts for ‘IT’, and multiple films within ‘The Conjuring‘ franchise. Looking at Dauberman’s past works, one could assume that Paramount is looking to do something a little different with the property, though in my humble opinion I highly doubt they’ll take this film anywhere past a hard PG-13.
We’ve attached the synopsis for ‘Are You Afraid Of The Dark’ below.
‘This spooky anthology series for kids recounts ghost stories told by the young members of the Midnight Society as they gather around a campfire. Each episode opens with members of the Midnight Society at their secret spot in the woods, where they prepare their fire and the night’s storyteller announces the title of the his or her offering. However, the cameras soon leave the storyteller and switch to the tale being told.’ Via Nick
