Within the last few months, Top Dawg Entertainment has slowly ushered in its new class of signees. Reason, Ray Vaughn and Doechii have all set the stage for the label’s next phase with albums like New Beginnings and tracks like “Picking Cherries.” With that said, the label’s biggest acts aren’t done just yet. ScHoolboy Q recently made his grand return with “Soccer Dad” and Kendrick Lamar just set the stage for his fourth studio LP, Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers. Now, Ab-Soul is here to add his voice to the conversation.
Ab-Soul hasn’t released a solo studio album since 2016, so it may be easy for some fans to forget just how good he is at this thing we call rapping. Fortunately, he wastes no time reminding us just how good his pen can be when he’s locked in. Within seconds of the Kal Banx-produced track playing, the Los Angeles native demands that the world let him talk his sh*t.
“Get up off my d*ck, let me talk my sh*t, let me show ’em how I feel, for real/These n*ggas ain’t ill, they ain’t got no skill, they ain’t got no will, for real,” he raps.
Ab-Soul may not have dropped an album since SZA was recording CTRL and Kendrick Lamar was finishing up DAMN, but fans are still waiting to see what his next move will be. Check out “Hollandaise” below and wait to see what he does next.
