John Krasinski’s ‘Quiet Place’ started off as the ‘Get Out’ of 2018. Get Out was the ‘Scary Movie To Watch’ in 2017 and received high praise from everybody including the Academy Awards, so to receive that acclaim is a tough hurdle in itself. Now we’re hearing the news that sequel is officially in the works and has received a 2020 release date.
The first movie, which had one family facing an apocalyptic nightmare where they had to be silent or else they would get attacked by alien monsters who obviously have some great hearing. Although there are no details about the plot, there is good evidence to suggest that the sequel will revolve around the same family.
Paramount has profited $322.5 million from this movie so this sequel announcement is no shocker. I think a big reason for its success is the mystery involved. Why do they have to be silent? Why did the apocalypse happen? How will John Krasinski affect the franchise? There are so many untold aspects of the story that makes the tale of the ‘Quiet Place’ just an interesting plot. Krasinski himself, who before this was mostly known for his role of Jim in The Office, will step behind the camera once again to direct the sequel. He also just debuted his series with Hulu based off Tom Clancy’s character ‘Jack Ryan’. All signs point to a fruitful career for Krasinski and an even more fruitful relationship between him and Paramount.
