It’s clear that the San Francisco 49ers thought wide receiver Marquise Goodwin was underutilized in Buffalo during his first four seasons. And by signing him to a three-year, $20.3 million contract extension, the Niners are not letting Goodwin get away anytime soon.
The #49ers and WR Marquise Goodwin agreed on 3-year extension worth $20.3M with $10M in guaranteed, sources say.

In his tenure with the Bills, Goodwin saw 129 passes come his way in four years. In his first season in San Francisco, he accumulated 105 targets. That resulted in 56 catches for 962 yards (a 17.2 yards/reception average) and two touchdowns. He also got four carries that he turned into 44 yards and also assumed kick returning duties for the Niners. Goodwin averaged 21.3 yards/kick return in 2017 for San Francisco.
San Francisco undeniably went through a rebuilding process the past couple seasons, but since trading for Jimmy Garoppolo and watching him emerge, they clearly want to surround their new franchise quarterback with offensive weapons. That made the decision to lock Marquise Goodwin up a relatively easy choice.
Goodwin was a third-round draft pick (78th overall) of the Bills out of Texas in the 2013 NFL Draft. The 27-year-old wide receiver never found an opportunity to shine in Buffalo (though injuries had a say in that as well – in 2015 he played in just two games before going on IR). But a change of scenery has seemingly done the trick and Marquise Goodwin now looks primed for bigger and better things.
Notably, Marquise Goodwin competed for the United States in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. He finished in 10th place in the long jump.
Don’t question me on “what if’s” or “proving”. I PLAY BALL… I can’t help I’m an Olympian… I can’t help I’m fast… I work hard… I’m blessed ????? now let allat rest!
