The New York Jets won 10 games this past season, yet failed to make the postseason. Oddly enough quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is still on the free agent market so the Jets could realistically look at every position in the first round.
With the 20th overall pick, the Jets may try to get an offensive play-maker. The trio of Eric Decker, Brandon Marshall, and Matt Forte has aged and could use some depth. An interesting target that no one is talking about could be Derrick Henry. Henry appears to be a perfect fit for this ground and pound offense. The Jets could even potentially trade down and create a formidable rushing attack adding Matt Forte’s receiving ability as well.
The biggest area of need on defense includes linebacker and pass rusher. At inside linebacker Darron Lee could be a great fit who is very similar to another Ohio State Buckeye Ryan Shazier. Lee ran an impressive 4.47 at this year’s combine.
Shaq Lawson from Clemson could create a great pass rushing tandem to go along with the Jets dominate defensive line. Lawson is also a run stuffing specialist that could make life a a little harder for Tom Brady and the rest of the division.
The Jets could also be a potential landing spot for one of the Drafts developmental quarterbacks. Christian Hackenberg and Cardale Jones could have very bright NFL futures if they time to sit and learn. Bryce Petty is also in house and could compete for the job as well.
