The Minnesota Vikings surprisingly won the NFC North in 2016. Holding the 23rd pick in the NFL Draft will give the Vikings some options moving forward. After adding some key free agents including Andre Smith and Alex Boone, let’s see where the Vikings can improve in the draft.
In the first round I would love to see the Vikings add a play-maker on the outside. If Laquon Treadwell is there he should be the pick. Will Fuller could also create an interesting dynamic replacing the speed of the departed Mike Wallace.
Another spot I would like to see the Vikings attack is tight end. Kyle Rudolph is an adequate tight end but they could really use a primary receiving tight end. Arkansas’ Hunter Henry could fit in well and could likely be had in the 2nd round. In a down year for tight ends, Henry is realistically the only tight end option in rounds 1-4.
Defensively there are a few options that could fit Minnesota very well. LSU linebacker Deion Jones could be a nice fit as a weak side linebacker in the 4-3. Jones reminds me a lot of Levonte David from the Bucs. Jones fits the mold of a undersized speedy linebacker capable of covering a lot of ground. Jones looks like he could be a nice fit in round 3.
