After releasing his second number one album and earning a Grammy nomination, things have completely gone downhill for Atlanta native, 21 Savage. On Sunday, the Atlanta rapper was taken in to custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for allegedly overstaying his visa. Immediately following his arrest, law enforcement released a statement that declared 21 Savage was from the U.K. and that his public persona was false. Since then, 21 Savage’s team has worked hard to refute these claims. Despite his team’s best efforts, law enforcement has kept 21 Savage in custody as he awaits his court hearing.
Throughout the week, we have heard much about what led to his arrest. Today, we received a story from law enforcement about the final encounter in which 21 Savage was taken in to custody. According to a report from TMZ, “21 Savage was driving recklessly and on a path to slam into a fully-marked cop car and that’s why he was pulled over on the day he was taken into custody. The report also adds, “It looks like cops believe he was in possession of a fully loaded [firearm].”
In response to the claims, 21 Savage’s attorney, Brian Steel, has stated that both the car and the firearm are not his.
