The most surprising team in college football is only getting started.
With the Iowa State Cyclones reaching all the way up to No. 14 in the country, things are getting interesting. The Cyclones have defeated two top-4 teams all in October. This team has the ability to end up making a legitimate case for the College Football Playoff if everything pans out. Like we all say, in college football, it’s all on the table.
The Cyclones need to win out, fair and square.
The Cyclones have four games left in the regular season. They need to absolutely win all the rest, but there are definitely some sneaky teams that can knock off their dreams. The Cyclones have West Virginia on November 4th, which can definitely cause some trouble. The Mountaineers are known for a high-scoring game, so you know this will not be a close one. Iowa State needs to contain the passing game defensively, and play like they have been. They should be just fine, although, I wouldn’t put money on it.
Next up is the Oklahoma State Cowboys, which highlights as the biggest threat left of 2017. You absolutely cannot afford to lose another game, and the Cowboys can definitely make that a casualty. With Heisman candidate Mason Rudolph at QB, anything is possible. The Cowboys offense can sure put up points, as well as defend very well defensively. The Cyclones will definitely have a big test against this Oklahoma State team.
The final two games should be played as “gimme” games. Meaning these games should be easily won by the Cyclones. Baylor has yet to win a football game, at 0-8, may be Iowa State’s easiest win all year long. How tragic was Baylor’s season? Kansas State is the final game of the year for the Cyclones, which should also be a very well handled game.
If all goes well, Iowa State could be 10-2 heading into the Big 12 Title Game.
By winning the Big 12 Title as well as winning out, I would make a serious case for this team. This Cyclone team has a legitimate shot at shocking the world and making the College Football Playoff.
