Way back when Kevin Durant was on the Oklahoma City Thunder, Carmelo Anthony was still with the New York Knicks and years before Kristaps Porzingis called himself a lizard, the Latvian star was given a nickname by KD. The former NBA MVP labeled Porzingis as ‘unicorn’ in the NBA because of his unique skillset for a player at his position and size. Almost two years after KD dubbed him the NBA’s first magical horse, Porzingis finally spoke about what he thought when Durant gave him that interesting word of praise.

Porzingis was a guest on ‘The Tonight Show’ with Jimmy Fallon and spoke about his initial reaction to Durant’s assessment of the Knicks star.

“At first, I was a little confused. It’s like, ‘What is it? A horse with a ponytail? What does it mean? But then they kind of explained it to me. What he tried to say is that I’m a unique player. So, it was nice to hear him say good things about me.”

Now Porzingis is slapping the unicorn emoji on photo captions and also putting it on the bottom of his new sneakers. It appears KP has accepted his role as a ‘horse with a ponytail’.
